In the 1960’s a scientific break-through linking ketones to fat loss resulted in the development of nutritional ketosis, or the ketogenic diet, which boosts weight loss by converting fat stores into energy. When carbs are limited, your body turns to fat stores for energy and creates molecules called ketones. These ketones can be used to fuel your muscles and brain in place of the missing sugars provided by carbohydrates.
